Mp3 audio example
We believe that the MP3 audio format should not be restricted by patents. This is a good example for considering if a certain legal wording will do what we want.
For example, if we say that patents are only for "innovations in applied natural science", then we have to consider if manipulating sound waves or producing certain effects in loudspeakers is in or outside this definition.
The answer will depend on other definitions and case law from that country or jurisdiction, but one suggestion is to explicitly exclude patents on use of a computer for its intended purpose. I.e. using a speaker to make noise shouldn't be patentable.
