Talk:Linus Torvalds on software patents
Who wrote the 2003 letter?
I used to think the 2003 letter was written by Alan Cox, and he then twisted Torvalds' arm to sign it. Cox actively campaigned and gave speeches against software patents.
But reading it now, there are grammatical errors that I don't think either Cox nor Torvalds would make:
- "Now European Parliament is about..."
- "we would recommend You to vote for..."
- "Please do not make this harder to us that it already is!"
Are these hallmarks of Torvalds' English in 2003? Or does it show that the text was written by a third-party? Ciaran 19:53, 15 April 2012 (EDT)
