LG v. Sony (2010, US and EU)
LG Electronics accuses Sony of violating it's patents on Blu-ray Discs.
Future timetable:
- March 24th, 2011: Dutch court to publish written ruling from the March 10th hearing
- November 18th, 2011: Oral hearing of the patent dispute
In Europe
In Europe, imports were briefly blocked in the Netherlands, but this block was lifted on March 10th and LG was ordered to pay the legal fees.[1]
The patents asserted were, among others:[2]
- EP 1676275 (B1)
- EP 1730730 (B1)
- EP 1884934 (B1)
In the USA
LG applied to the United States International Trade Commission to block imports to the USA, asserting patents which seem to be software patents:

- US 7,577,080
- US 7,619,961
- US 7,756,398
